Town back in old routine

OLDHAM Town hit the road in the Vodkat League Cup tomorrow when they head to Bolton to play Daisy Hill.

Remarkably, it will be Town’s sixth cup tie of the campaign as opposed to five league matches.

Manager Tony Mills has already masterminded against-the-odds victories over Ashton Athletic and Congleton Town – teams from a higher division in the non-league pyramid – in the FA Cup and FA Vase.

Mills has problems, with captain and central defender Tim Buxton ruled out with a broken nose and Stuart McGill starting a three-match ban, punishment for his sending-off against AFC Emley in the Vase.

But influential central defender Damian Schofield is back after breaking his nose.

Chadderton running out of players

CHADDERTON could have an entire team on the sidelines for tomorrow’s Vodkat League Cup first-round tie at Irlam.

Ian Knapman and Lee Swanson are set to join the list of absentees after being hurt in last Saturday’s defeat at Padiham.

Donovan Greenidge, Bobby Fulham and John Cregan are also injured, while Nathan Jackson and Mitchell Clegg are out long term.

And to complicate matters further, Louis Maynard, Adam Whitehead and Nick Fraine have all returned to university.

The only cheer is striker Mickey Green’s return after suspension.

Chadderton reserves play Irlam at Broadway.
