THE Oldham men’s town darts team won 8-2 at arch rivals St Helens Town in the premier division of the Lancashire GMC Super League.
Oldham produced a wonderful display of throwing which included seven 180s and 82 hundreds and they had a team average of 79.12 every three darts.
Chris North produced the best performance, having a 156 checkout in his 3-1 victory which was achieved at an average of 86.88 to earn the man-of-the-match award.
Oldham’s other winners were Dave Yates (3-2, 80.72), John Morton (79.62), Lee Williams (3-0, 75.73), Peter Day snr (3-0, 78.45), Mark Tomlinson (3-2, 71.66), Stuart Holden (3-1, 78) and David Rawstron (3-1, 81.69).
Oldham have major problems for Sunday’s home game against Blackpool when five regulars are missing - Downs, North, Rawstron, Holden and Williams. They made a request to postpone the game but Blackpool would not agree.
Oldham women defeated Lancaster 5-3 at home to preserve their unbeaten start to their premier division campaign in the Lancashire GMC Super League.
The Oldham winners were player-of-the-match Janet Fox (3-0), Shereen Scholes (3-2), Debbie Dunkerley (3-0), Alison Bennett (3-0) and Joan Hicken (3-0).
