It is the first time any team from Saddleworth - whether juniors or seniors - has won a Manchester Alliance knockout as they created club history.

After battling through five rounds and an initial entry of 85 clubs, Saddleworth played Horwich in the final at Lowes Park.

They won their first four matches to take the title with the three remaining games called in early as Saddleworth had already clinched victory.

The four winners were Stephen Pullen (6 & 5), Mark Anderson-Wild (6 & 5), Liam Parfitt (2 & 1) and Rick Scholes (4 & 3).

And the three other players were Matt Woolley (all square), Ben Simpson (2 up) and Jack Shaw (2 up) when their games ended early.
