Hollinwood take over at top of the table

HOLLINWOOD B went top of the Oldham Table Tennis League first division after beating Saddleworth A 7-3 with two wins each for Tristran Swann, Ian Quinn and George Jones who all lost to Paul Cichelli.

Second-placed Werneth A beat their B team 8-2 with maximums from Darryl and Stewart Meredith.

The juniors of OTTC A held third-placed BAE A to a draw, Joshua Boult starring with three wins aided by a double from Rebekah Griffith.

In a super game between two well-matched teams, Shaun Ellis was unbeaten for Grotton A but Ken Ward and Lionel Royle scored doubles for Hyde YMCA A to earn them a well-deserved draw.

In Division 2, Hollinwood C remain top despite being held to a draw at Honeywell C, Tommy Ryan winning all his games for Honeywell.

Werneth C are in second spot after their 8-2 win against Uppermill A. A Paul Wilkinson treble and doubles for Terry Donlon and Bernard Davies did the trick.

Unison A scored their first win of the season, beating Pennine 6-4, Andy Hey anchoring them with a fine treble.

Honeywell D are clear at the top of the third division despite a 6-4 reverse at Gilders Tackle. Ken Dunkerley was unbeaten for them but doubles for Colin Ogden and Mark Craven with a single from Gerry Lees was enough for Gilders.

Coldhurst B beat their C team 9-1 with maximums from Darren Brown and Terry Holland, Malcolm Wills losing to Neil Chapman in five.

Droylsden were 8-2 victors at Uppermill B, with Tim Greenald and Phil Denby unbeaten.

Top team Unison D beat bottom team Werneth F 7-3 in the fourth division, with Dennis Heyes unbeaten for Unison.

Junior Natalie Dodd remains unbeaten this season following OTTC C’s draw with second-placed Owls B for whom Philip Tamworth and Dinesh Gorasia each scored doubles.

Juniors Sarah Weatherby and Abigail Griffith played well, winning one set each.
