Werneth take over at the top

FIVE of the seven matches in the Oldham Table Tennis League first division were close-fought contests, ending 6-4.
Werneth A took over top position after a 6-4 win at Honeywell A. Darryl Meredith (3) and Pete Morris (2) starred for the leaders with Adam Rowbotham (2) replying.
Previous leaders Hollinwood B lost 6-4 at BAE A for whom Tony Bates and Tony Smith both trebled.
Division 2 leaders Hollinwood C were held 5-5 by Honeywell B. Brian Higgins (3) and Barrie Royle (2) starred for the visitors. Dave Cheetham replied with a double and his team needed an 11-9 win in the fifth game of the doubles for a draw.
Honeywell D got back to winning ways in Division 3 with a 9-1 victory over Uppermill B, but the score flattered them.
Unison D consolidated their position at the top of Division 4 with an 8-2 win over Honeywell E.
