CONRAD TAYLOR and Lee Humphries teamed up to win the Meadow View Pairs Masters on Meadow View Fisheries.

Taylor had another reason to celebrate as he topped the individual list as well with his 45lb of carp.

He used pellet at nine metres for fish in the six to seven pounds bracket. Humphries beat some top quality anglers on the day, including England International Stu Conroy.

IAN Hurst was handed the winner’s cheque in the Border Anglers match on Hollingrove Dam after weighing in 8lb 1oz.

A carp of 6lb did help, along with some small roach and perch on pole and maggot on just an 00.9 hooklength and a number four elastic.

Steve Hamer was second-best after maggot up in the water accounted for small roach, perch and skimmers, before a switch to corn produced a 3lb 8oz carp for a 6lb 4oz.

Brian Murphy, in third place, had a level 6lb made up of one good skimmer, some roach and perch on chopped worm with maggot on the hook.

Dave White, in fourth, had a 5lb 14oz net, which included a good skimmer and some silver fish on maggot.

THE countdown is on to Chadderton Mill AC’s popular winter series on the club water.

It gets under way on Sunday, November 9, and will run fortnightly.

The matches take place from 10am to 3pm. The draw is at 9am. Bloodworm and joker are banned.

Although these matches are designated for members only, non members will be allowed to enter if space allows.

JIM Wild claimed top spot in the Cranberry AC match on Fleets Dam.

Opting for caster, maggot and pellet on the long pole, Wild caught at regular intervals for a 12lb 2oz bag of skimmers and roach.

That was too good for Allan Steel’s roach and skimmer catch, with the Lees and Hey rod employing maggot and caster baits.

Keith Adams is well known on the Oldham angling circuit — he organised the Medlock Bridge AC matches on the Roaches lock section of the Huddersfield Canal for a number of years — and, after taking a back seat, is making a comeback with the Lees and Hey club.

He can still do the business on the bank as well, finishing third with 7lb 2oz of skimmers and silvers on caster and maggot on the long pole.

Fourth place went to Derek Hudson, who had 5lb 4oz of skimmers and silvers.

Venue Guide
Rochdale Canal: Bread punch for roach and skimmers. This week’s frost has kept fish low in the water. Feed once. Fish in the deepest part of the pegs for best results.

Park Lake: Slow-going, although pleasure anglers were still venturing out in midweek.

Ogden Reservoir: Fish feeding now and again. Pike anglers catching a few small specimens.
