OLDHAM were beaten in the final of the National Public Service Vehicle Darts Championships at Gosport, Hampshire.
The players from the Oldham bus depot had battled their way through various rounds, culminating in them being crowned northern area champions to qualify for the last four.
In the semi-finals, at Gosport Borough Football Club, they beat South Shields 5-4, but in the final sufffered an 8-1 defeat against London CRS.
ERNIE SUTER, a well-known former Oldham town team darts player, died in the Royal Oldham Hospital on Saturday after a long illness.
The 63-year-old, from Egerton Street, also threw for Lees and Hey Conservative Club and The Weavers.
Ernie worked for British Aerospace for many years and was also a town-centre newsagent.
THE Oldham men’s town team is in action at Rochdale Borough on Sunday in the premier division of the Lancashire GMC Super League.
