OTTC open six-point advantage

OTTC A lead the first division of the Oldham and District Table Tennis League by six points after beating Werneth B 8-2. Dave Griffiths and Josh Boult were unbeaten with Rebekha Griffiths winning two, losing only to Gary Skinner.

Werneth A, in second place, lost 6-4 to Saddleworth A. Darryl Meredith, the current Oldham champion, and Darren Lindley, the current Huddersfield champion, were both unbeaten and at one set each in the final singles game when Darryl, unfortunately, had to retire injured.

Hollinwood B beat last season’s champions Glodwick 6-4, Tristan Swann being unbeaten and supported by a brace from Ian Quinn. Khamal Hussain responded with a double for Glodwick.

Mid-table Honeywell A beat bottom club Rosehill A 7–3. Adam Rowbotham (3) and Tom Ryan (2) for Honeywell and Phil Ashworth (2) for Rosehill were the main players.

Second Division leaders Hollinwood C were comfortable 8-2 winners at Werneth D, with Dave Cheetham and Joe Redikin both unbeaten.

Second-placed Honeywell B beat second-bottom Pennine 9-1. Brian Higgins and Peter Buckley were both unbeaten, with Howard Travis winning two. Glen Chadwick scored Pennine’solitary point.

Werneth C retained third place with a 9-1 win at Hollinwood D. Doreen Schofield and Paul Wilkinson were unbeaten and Karen Hill contributed two. John Hannah responded with Hollinwood’s point.

Honeywell D, top of the third division, lost 6-4 against Unison C. Terry Cooper won two for Honeywell and John Mark and Mike O’Gara replied with two each.

Coldhurst B, in second place, beat Unison B 8-2.

Simon Walsh with three and Gary Keylock and Darren Brown with two each were the scorers for Coldhurst.

In Division 4, Owls B moved into top spot thanks to a fine 9-1 win against Werneth E.

Paul Woodward and Philip Tamworth were both unbeaten and Dinesh Gorasia added two. Joe Taylor was the sole winner for Werneth.

Unison D slipped to second place despite a narrow 6–4 win against St. Saviours.
