Fleur blossoms on her debut

FLEUR MITCHELL won a gold medal on her competition debut for Oldham Amateur Swimming Club in the Central Lancashire Warburton Age group Championships at Bury.

Fleur’s success came in the nine-years 50m breaststroke as Seals swimmers won 12 gold, 15 silver and 16 bronze - and were crowned the top club in the 10 and 13 years age groups.

Kyle Clegg had a successful gala, winning the 10-years 200m individual medley and 50m breaststroke, adding silvers in the 50m backstroke and 50m freestyle.

In the same age group, Olivia Askew collected golds in the 200m IM and 50m freestyle, silvers in the 50m fly and 50m backstroke and a bronze in the 50m breaststroke.

Seals’ top swimmer in the 12-years age group was Jessica Fullalove who won gold in the 200m IM, silvers in the 50m and 100m freestyle and bronzes in the 50m breaststroke and 100m backstroke.

The leading boy in the 13-years section was Harry Entwistle who captured five golds in the 50m and 100m backstroke, 50m and 100m freestyle and 50m breaststroke. He also picked up silvers in the 200m IM and 100m breaststroke and a bronze in the 50m fly.

In the same age group, Ian Martin won a silver in the 50m backstroke and bronzes in the 50m breaststroke and 100m backstroke. And for the girls in this section, Hannah Clegg took silver in the 50m fly, adding five bronzes from the 50m backstroke, 50m breaststroke, 100m fly, 100m breaststroke and 200m IM.

Ash Ratchford struck gold in the 14-years 50m freestyle, adding silvers from the 50m fly and 100m freestyle and a bronze in the 50m backstroke. For the girls, Sophie Kenny won silvers in the 50m freestyle, 50m backstroke and 100m fly and bronzes for the 50m fly, 100m freestyle and 200m IM.

In the Bob Foden Memorial Trophy, a 16-per-team relay, Seals came second to Royton, losing by just 0.16sec.
