THE Pilsworth Tuesday open match fished on the top ponds was won by Tom Haslam with a mainly carp-based 17lb 2oz, beating Tony Lomax into second with an almost identical catch weighing 17lb.

Mike Beattie’s third-best 12lb 4oz net and Bernard Taylor’s 11lb 6oz were made up of roach and skimmers.

DAVE WHITE took first place in the latest Border Anglers winter series match fished on Hollingrove Dam with his 12lb 6oz net including a 7lb 12oz carp and some silvers that fell for pole, pellet and maggot fished down the side of his peg.

Organiser Steve Hamer was next with a 5lb 8oz catch that included two carp, a ten ounce chub and five perch that all fell to worm fished right down the edge.

Brian Murphy was third with a bream and some small skimmers all taken on the pole, chopped worm and caster to weigh in 3lb 10oz.

Peter Jackson has a good record on this water and took fourth with an all small roach catch that fell to maggot fished at thirteen metres for 3lb 5oz.

DARREN WEBB included two good-sized carp in his 16lb 8oz net that was good enough to win the Chadderton Mill AC winter league match fished on the club water.

He added skimmers and ide on long pole with maggot on the hook fished over groundbait.

Organiser Lee Humphries (GTI Matchman) was just a fish behind with his 15lb 8oz catch including skimmers and ide taken on maggot fished on the deck over groundbait.

Graham Mitchell (GTI Matchman) had almost as many fish as the top two put together but they were all tiny blade-size skimmers that tipped the scales to 10lb, with maggot fished short at just eight metres the method used.

Paul Hill put two carp into his keepnet and added a few skimmers with the tip and red maggot for a fourth-placed 9lb 8oz.
