Town on trail of Vase glory

OLDHAM Town will tomorrow bid for a place in the last 64 of the FA Vase when they travel to Bootle for a second-round tie.
“When you consider there were 514 teams which started out in the competition, it would be a great achievement for the club to go so far,” declared Town manager Tony Mills.
Town go into the game in good spirits after winning 2-0 at Leek CSOB on Tuesday to claim a last-16 place in the Vodkat League Challenge Cup.
Striker Matt Landregan is Town’s major injury worry after hurting his knee at Leek, while captain Lee Deakin is in line for a recall after missing the last two games with a groin strain.
CHADDERTON face their longest journey of the season when they go to Holker Old Boys in division one of the Vodkat North-West Counties League.
The Broadway side will be looking to return from Cumbria with a fourth straight victory in league and cup.
Manager Paul Buckley’s plans have been disrupted by the loss of influential midfield pair Gareth Morris, who begins a three-match ban, and Donovan Greenidge, who is ruled out with a groin strain.
Chadderton reserves are at home to Ashton Athletic.
MOSSLEY bid to end a run of three straight defeats when they entertain Salford City, the bottom club in UniBond League, division one north.
Although City have failed to register a league victory, they recorded a first win under new manager Ashley Berry on Monday when they won 3-2 at FA Cup giantkillers Curzon Ashton in the President’s Cup.
Mossley boss Chris Willcock has reluctantly released Scott Holt, because of work commitments, along with Andy Markham, who has been having difficulties travelling from his home in Yorkshire.
