Hulmeians humbled

OLDHAM Hulmeians’ winning run came to an end with a 4-1 defeat at championship contenders Bolton Ambassadors in division two of the Lancashire Amateur League.
The visitors were on course for a fifth successive victory when Danny Harrison’s second-half shot squirmed under the ’keeper.
But, with 20 minutes remaining, they were stunned by two quick-fire goals from Ambassadors and the home side put a gloss on the scoreline with two further strikes in the closing stages.
In division one, Chaddertonians reserves were 2-0 down at home to their Old Blackburnians counterparts, but were thrown a lifeline when substitute Lee Johnson pulled one back.
With Lewis Childs and Paul Kearns calling the shots from midfield, they threatened to equalise, only for the visitors to break away and seal a 3-1 success.
Chadds’ third team showed plenty of guts and determination to defeat title hopefuls Horwich Victoria reserves 3-2 in division four.
Despite going ahead through Danny O’Keefe’s sublime chip, they trailed 2-1 with only five minutes to go.
But they refused to throw in the towel and were rewarded with late goals from Hechem Ariane and Damian Hardman.
Meanwhile, Hulmeians reserves moved up to second in division six as Danny Clare (two) and Lee Johnson handed them a 3-0 home victory over Bolton Wyresdale ‘A’.
Hulmeians ‘A’ claimed the bragging rights as they defeated Hulmeians ‘B’ 3-1 in a club derby at Tate Street in division seven. Jonathan Hadfield, Mike Greenhalgh and Chris Hope scored for the third team, with Phil Rawlings replying for the fourths.
Chadds fourths produced their best performance of the season so far when a hat-trick from Jack O’Dea and further goals from Danny Dorward, Dean Clucas, Jason Bowes and Chris Rogers clinched a 7-2 win at home to Horwich RMI.
