Eight is great for Springhead

IT just gets better and better for Springhead in the Bridgewater Office Supplies Manchester League premier division.
The Ashfield Crescent outfit completed their eighth straight win at lowly Hindsford to stay six points clear at the top of the table.
Springhead, who triumphed 3-0, went in front after 20 minutes when Adam Young, making his first appearance of the season, headed home Dale Jackman’s corner.
Young was also involved in his side’s second goal. He was brought down inside the penalty area and Paul Stevenson converted the spot-kick.
Springhead sealed victory on the hour mark when Richard Ferguson, who had somehow missed an open goal moments early, crossed for Stevenson to supply a simple finish.
Hollinwood are back up to second place after they came from behind to beat lowly Breightmet United 3-2.
Alan Beckett added two more to his tally for the season, while Fraser Hatton got the other.
But Avro, who entertain Stand Athletic in the Manchester Challenge Trophy tonight (7pm), missed a chance to climb out of the bottom four after they were held to a goalless draw by basement boys Pennington.
Royton Town’s home match against Chapel Town was postponed.
SPRINGHEAD reserves produced their best performance for quite a while in the 2-1 home win over Avro in division two.
Jamie Gibson, with a simple tap-in, and a Lee Wolfendon effort sealed victory.
In division three, Royton Town reserves overcame their Hollinwood counterparts 3-1, while Hollinwood ‘A’ went down 3-1 at Stand Athletic reserves.
