ICE HOCKEY: Manchester Phoenix bid to get back to winning ways when they take on Hull Stingrays and Edinburgh Capitals.
The Phoenix have lost their last three matches, but Hull have only won five games from 20 this season and Edinburgh just six in 22.
Manchester will be missing the influential Bruce Mulherin again over the weekend with a shoulder injury.
Hull visit Altrincham tomorrow (6.30pm) before Phoenix go to Edinburgh on Sunday (6pm).
CYCLING: Sunday’s Oldham and Tameside CTC club run is to Littleborough.
Meet on Union Street, Oldham, near Chaucer Street (grid ref SD 924 048) at 9.30am for a 9.45 start. Call Kathleen Collins on 01457 764021.
ATHLETICS: Adam Howard and Robert Smith were in fine form for Oldham & Royton Harriers in the Red Rose Cross Country League at Bolton.
Adam won the under-13s boys race in an excellent 10:48 with Robert finishing strongly in second in 11:10. Jamie Burrows was 30th in 12:59 as the team took second overall.
Jane Augsburger finished fourth in the under-17 women’s race in 21:18 and Mike Smith was 13th in the under-15 boys race in 16:08.
In the senior men’s race, Mike Mannings was 11th in 32:00 (fourth in the under-20 category).
Other finishers: Rob Ingham (12th place in 32:11) with Owen Flage (49th, 36:21, John Hudson (78th, 38:19), Dave Smith (98th, 39:52), Brian Schofield (105th, 40:23), Karl Smith (119th, 41:29) and Darren Mannings (131st, 42:33).
