High-fives for magic Mannion

HEYSIDE wins are like buses . . . you wait ages for one and then two come along at once.
After getting off the mark against Lindley, they made it back-to-back victories in division three of the Huddersfield and District League.
Mannion was the star of the show as they swept aside mid-table Upperthong 6-0.
Goalless at half-time, the sharp-shooter struck five times after the break and Sidlow got the other to lift Heyside out of the bottom three.
Diggle are up to fourth in division one after a 3-0 defeat of lowly New Mill 94, but Uppermill wasted a hatful of chances as they went down 2-0 at home to Newsome WMC.
It was a disappointing display from the hosts, who lacked the spark of the previous weeks.
Goals from Dan Gartside, Adam Wilson, Chris Taylor and Ste Faulkener were in vain as Uppermill’s second string suffered a narrow 5-4 defeat at Newsome in reserve division one.
But Diggle’s reserve team enjoyed a 2-1 success at home to Kirkheaton Rovers.
And the club’s ‘A’ team were emphatic 8-0 winners over HV Academicals in reserve division two, while Uppermill ‘A’ were held to a goalless draw by Westend.
But Heyside good run of results came to an abrupt end when they went down 6-0 at high-flying Cumberworth.
Results are —
Division one: New Mill 94 0, Diggle 3; Uppermill 0, Newsome WMC 2.
Division three: Heyside FC 6, Upperthong 0.
Reserve division one: Diggle Res 2, Kirkheaton Rovers Res 1; Newsome WMC Res 5, Uppermill Res 4.
