OLDHAM golf club beat the freeze as their Winter League began with captain Terry Kelly featuring in the prizes in both of the weekend’s four-ball betterball Stablefords.
Kelly and Steve Hunt amassed 47 points to claim top spot in the Saturday competition.
Runners-up were Mark Furnival and David Bailey (46pts), on the card from Gary Lee and Terry Garrett.
Kelly partnered Steve Johnson in the Sunday pairs event and they finished third with 45 points, edging out father and son Ron and Martin Lewis on the card.
Brian Best and Mick Jones (48pts) emerged the victors from second-placed Graham Robinson and Stuart Wagstaffe (47).
STAMFORD’S monthly medal, played over 12 holes, saw Danny Rice finish first, on the card from Glyn Andrew after both scored 40.3.
Alan Hood was top of the second division with 37.6 from runner-up Tony Hales (39).
Eric Rostron (36.3) was well clear of second-placed Eamonn Farrell (41.3) in division three.
Ian Trow may have finished outside the prizes, but he had the consolation of scoring a hole-in-one at the third hole.
