SPRINGBANK ‘B’ were fifth division champions of the Oldham Women’s Bowls League. Vice-captain Brenda Bassett (front left) and captain Kathy Emmott are pictured with their team-mates.
SPRINGBANK and Radcliffe, two teams vying to avoid relegation from the ‘A’ Division of the Inbev Winter Bowling League, shared the spoils in a dramatic clash.
They had four winners apiece at Chadderton Cot and, when the aggregates were added up, the two teams could not be split.
Royle show no signs of loosening their grip on the title race, underlining their their mastery of the artificial surface with a 9-2 demolition of a strong New Street outfit. But second-placed Hopwood have not given up hope of catching their rivals. They defeated Waterloo and Taunton 8-3 to give themselves a 12-points buffer over the third-placed Ashton Road outfit.
With Royle sitting it out next weekend, Hopwood will be looking to make inroads into their 19-point lead.
Tonge continued their unbeaten run at the top of the ‘B’ Division with a 9-2 defeat of Dogwood.
Lower Failsworth clinched the aggregate by three points to overcome third-placed Nimble Nook 7-4, while Vixens registered their first win of the season with a 7-4 return against Prestwich.
