Tame Valley slide

Tame Valley’s first team was unable to arrest the slide, slipping to a worrying fifth successive defeat in division two central of the JJB North West Counties Squash League.

Their latest reverse was a 3-2 loss against Fylde team Thornton firsts with only Jamie Maddox and Mike Potter striking form.

The second team was thrashed 5-0 by a strong Rochdale seconds while the thirds lost 3-2 against Village Hyde seconds despite wins by John and Fiona Heston.

The fourth team is in sparkling form, however, recording a 4-1 victory against Monton thirds thanks to Rod Humphries, Derek Leyland, Eric Mowinski and Steve Lomas.

In the Lancashire Women’s League, Valley thrashed Cheetham Hill 4-0 through Linda Kenworthy, Amanda Maddox, Debra Cockburn and Dorothy Quarmby.
