Band hit top note to take the lead

ROYTON BAND have hit the top of the Oldham Amateur Snooker League at the halfway point of the season.

Wins from A Hopkinson jnr, S Callaghan and Colin Hopkinson gave them a 4-2 victory at Little Cot A and that was enough to leapfrog previous leadaers Moss Inn who had an open date.

Nimble Nook have taken a commanding lead in the cards league, a 4-0 win over St Paul’s putting them seven points clear of North Chadd and Deaf A.

CROMPTON CLOSE IN

CROMPTON Cons are closing in on the leaders in the Saw-Tech Shaw Snooker League after two 4-2 wins.

Despite losing the first frame against Cricket A to Mel Whittle’s 31 break, Cons hit back and secured the points in the final frame thanks to D Walton.

It was a similar story against Comrades A, C Sneyd hauling them back into contention with his second over-the-century score in a row before J Parker clinched it in the final frame.
