Baseball players wanted
Date published: 18 December 2008
OLDHAM Baseball Club are on the look-out for new players after participating in their first league season.
Baseball returned to the area for the first time since the 1950s as Oldham took part in the ‘British AA League North.’
But it was to be no fairytale return as the league newcomers had a difficult start to the season and, despite steady improvement, were on the receiving end of a string of defeats.
Their first win finally came on the last day of the season against local rivals Bolton in a close encounter in which the Oldham boys showed their promise.
During the season the club also played in the Challenge Cup. This gave the team a chance to play full, nine-innings games at Sheffield and Manchester which helped the development of the players.
The club is always on the look-out for new players, as well as searching for sponsorship. If you would like to get involved contact the club by e-mailing oldhambaseball@googlemail.com
