AFTER waiting most of the season to get off the mark, Vixens registered their second successive victory in the ‘B’ Division of Chadderton Cot’s Inbev Winter Bowling League when they defeated Dogwood 8-3.

Nimble Nook reclaimed second spot with an 8-3 victory over North Chadderton, while Prestwich registered the same score against Lower Failsworth.

With the league taking a break for Christmas and New Year, the top individuals in the ‘B’ Division are Phil Biram (Tonge) and Andy Gardner (Tonge), Darren Mountford (North Chadderton) and Steve Mellor (Nimble Nook), who have all won 10 games. Next comes John Irons jnr (North Chadderton) with nine wins.

New Street bounced back to form in the ‘A’ Division with a 9-2 defeat of bottom club Springbank, who are under the serious threat of relegation.

Second-placed Hopwood squandered their chance of eroding Royle’s lead when they lost 7-4 to Radcliffe, but Waterloo & Taunton bounced back from defeat the previous weekend to beat Lees/Springhead 9–2.

With tw -thirds of the season completed, the leading ‘A’ Division individuals are Gary Coverdale (Royle) and Andy Shackleton (New Street) with nine wins.

Next, on eight, come Hopwood’s Ryan Goodman, Gareth Gwilliam and Keith McHugh, along with Royle’s Peter Fielding, Matt Gillies, Tom Hedderman and Alan Rushton.

DAVE Hughes (Dukinfield) beat Jack Hargreaves (Hyde) 21-20 in the latest winter green competition at Hurst Band BC.

In the semi-finals, Hughes defeated Hilary White (Mossley) 21-19, while Jack beat Paul Craven (Denton) 21-18.

The consolation final was won by Dave Roberts (Ashton), who beat Keith Matley (Hyde) 21-17.
