Stamford beat the freeze

STAMFORD Golf Club have failed to be bunkered by the freeze as, incredibly, they managed to stage their monthly medal.

The 12-hole Stableford saw Phil Mellor claim top spot in the first division, on the card from Nigel Fish after both returned nett 40.3.

Robin Furness (42.3) triumphed in division two from Eric Nield (43), while in division three Phil Sandiford (42.3) emerged the victor from Tony Brown (43.3).
