HEYSIDE are to fight the punishment dished out by the Armstrongs Office Furniture Saddleworth and District Cricket League.
The Little Hey Street club have handed over a letter of appeal to the league, who will now convene a hearing in front of an independent panel as soon as possible.
Heyside were thrown out of the Tanner and Moore cup competitions — they are the holders of both trophies — for failing to control their players and spectators. They also had their nomination to appear in this season’s LCB Cup withdrawn by the league.
Both first and second teams were deducted 40 points and the club was fined £200, which are suspended until the end of the season.
Heyside were also warned that they could face expulsion from the league if they continue to transgress.
Joe Warburton, the Heyside chairman, refused to comment.
