OLDHAM and Royton Harriers’ Mike Mannings had a successful day trip to Blackpool by winning the Rudolf Red Nose five-mile race in 27 minutes 50 seconds.
To complete a great family day out, Mike was followed home by his dad Darren (35th in 36:33) and sister Natalie (105th in 44:31).
At the Ribble Valley 10k, Mike had another good run in cold conditions to finish 51st in 34:35 with Pete Williams 305th in 42:37 and Darren Mannings 362nd in 43:55.
Anyone planning to take up running this year, for London Marathon preparation or charity events, can get help and support from the Harriers.
The club trains at the athletics stadium on Hunt Lane, Chadderton, from 7pm to 8pm on Monday and Thursday evenings and, whether you are a beginner or an experienced runner, you can benefit from help from a UK Athletics qualified coach and have other runners of various abilities to train and race alongside.
For more details, contact Pete Williams, who coaches and runs with the group, on 07739 578723.
