Town move trophy tie
Date published: 13 January 2009
OLDHAM TOWN have surrendered home advantage for tonight’s Vodkat North West Counties League First Division Trophy quarter-final against Ashton Town amid fears that their Whitebank Stadium pitch would be unplayable.
The jinxed tie, which has already been postponed three times, will tonight take place in Ashton-in-Makerfield.
Oldham manager Tony Mills explained: “Our pitch was frozen and rutted and, when it thawed out, we feared it would be too wet to get the roller on to the pitch.
“The chances of the game going ahead tonight at home were slim so we decided to cut our losses.”
Mossley are also hoping to be back in action tonight for the first time since Boxing Day as they play hosts to Curzon Ashton in UniBond League division one north.
