ACTION in the Inbev Winter Bowling League’s ‘A’ and ‘B’ divisions continues on the Chadderton Cot artificial surface this weekend.

With only a month to go, reigning champions Royle are striving to hold off Hopwood in the ‘A’ division title race, but Tonge have a decisive advantage in the ‘B’ division and look set to book their place in the top flight next winter.

Lees/Springhead and Springbank are fighting it out to fend off relegation from the ‘A’ division, but whoever avoids finishing bottom will have to beat the ‘B’ division runners-up — most likely to be Nimble Nook — in a play-off to retain their status in the top division.
Fixtures are —

Tomorrow (’B’ division): 9.45am, Vixens v Lower Failsworth; Noon, Prestwich v North Chadderton; 2.15pm, Tonge v Nimble Nook.

Sunday (’A’ division): 9.45am, Royle v Waterloo and Taunton; noon, Springbank v Hopwood; 2.15pm, Radcliffe v Lees/Springhead.

OLDHAM Evening Chronicle Handicap officials will meet later this month to fix dates and venues for this year’s competition.

They will also decide the main beneficiary of the competition’s charity fund.
