THE Oldham husband-and-wife darts pairing of John and Shereen Downs were both winners for Lancashire as they beat Surrey 22-12 in the county match at Halliwell Reform Club, Bolton.
John, who was representing Lancashire ‘B’, won 3-1 at an average of 78.48 while Shereen triumphed by the same margin for the women’s ‘A’ team.
And it was a case of keeping it in the family as Shereen’s mother Janet Fox was the women’s player of the match after winning her ‘B’ match 3-0, averaging 70.44 every three darts.
Oldham’s star performer for Lancashire, however, was Chris North whose 3-0 victory for the men’s ‘B’ team was achieved at a superb average of 96.34.
THE Oldham men’s team is in derby action in the premier division of the Lancashire GMC Super League on Sunday when they travel to play Rochdale at Spotland Reform Club.
