GLODWICK emerged victorious in a close contest in group ‘A’ of the Oldham Cricket Development Group under-11s Indoor League.
The Warren Lane lads held their nerve to record an eight-run win over Moorside.
Taking first knock, Glodwick made 241 for eight, with captain Jamie Symonds scoring 19.
Moorside were within 11 runs of their target with three overs to go, but excellent bowling from Tommy Jones, who finished with figures of three for 14, and Symonds kept them at bay.
Shaw proved too strong for Austerlands who, responding to 275 for five, were restricted to 205 for seven.
James Howard and Aaron Scholes hit 17 and 16 respectively as Saddleworth piled up 265 for two against Delph in group ‘B’.
Nathan Jones, with two wickets for three runs, was the pick of the bowlers.
Delph gave it a good go in the face of some fine Saddleworth bowling, but fell short on 245 for five.
Heyside were impressing 72-run winners over Woodhouses.
Bradley Flint and Cory Pearson claimed two wickets apiece to restrict the Medlock Road outfit to 208 for seven.
Heyside scored heavily when it was their turn to bat, completing their allotted overs on 280 for two.
Callum Hendrick led the way with an unbeaten 27, while Woodhouses’ Ben Atkinson wrapped up a fine evening’s work with two victims to add to his 15 runs.
