Crompton medal success

CROMPTON and Royton golf club’s four-man team medal was won by Peter Boggiano, David Whitworth, Lee and Derek Conway with a score of 102.
In second were Andrew Bottomley, Jack Bottomley-Clift, Robert Calow and Chris Calow (103) while Bernard and John Brame, Les Bithell and Cliff Wood came third (106).
Robert Calow leads the order of merit table after four events. He has 20 points following finishes of first, second and fifth.
STAMFORD’S 12-hole Stableford produced a victory for Alan Peet who scored 32 points.
Runner-up was Tom Moody (31pts) following a four-way card play-off.
MATTHEW Nixon, the former British Boys’ champion who has Oldham connections, is competing for England in Spain this week.
Nixon is in the six-strong England team taking part in the Costa Ballena Quadrangular Tournament.
