Heyside appeal

HEYSIDE Cricket Club could face a new disciplinary hearing to answer charges of failing to control their players and spectators.
A Saddleworth and District Cricket League appeals panel, featuring prominent officials from three clubs, met at Hollinwood CC last night.
Heyside were appealing against a league decision to exclude them from this season’s Tanner Cup, Moore Cup and LCB Cup competitions, as well as a £200 fine and points deduction, both of which were suspended until the end of the season.
After a meeting which lasted more than an hour, the three-man appeals panel decided that the process should start from scratch as no mention was made of a disciplinary hearing in the letter which ordered Heyside to appear in front of the league committee on December 17.
The league will now decide whether to convene a fresh disciplinary hearing.
