Whitewash woe

TAME Valley’s first team, yet to win in the second half of the season, crashed to a 5-0 defeat against Bury first in division two Central of the JJB North-West Counties Squash League.

Steve Ivell was the only winner for the seconds as they suffered their fifth consecutive defeat, 4-1 against their Bury counterparts.

However, the thirds brought some cheer for the Greenfield outfit, winning 3-2 against Lancashire Health thirds thanks to John Heston, Dave Wilson and Richard Green.

Veterans Derek Leyland and Steve Lomas guided the fourths to a 3-2 win over David Lloyd Bolton seconds, and they were well supported by Mark Gartside.

In the Lancashire Women’s League, Valley thrashed Blackburn Northern 4-0. Linda Kenworthy, Fiona Heston, Amanda Maddox and Debra Cockburn were victorious.
