Royle target Street scalp

ROYLE’S ‘A’ division title challenge in the Inbev Winter Bowling League has stuttered in recent weeks, but the Rochdale outfit could take a huge step towards achieving their goal if they beat New Street tomorrow.
Leading Hopwood by eight and a half points, Royle know that a convincing win on Chadderton Cot’s artificial green will ask their main rivals a huge question.
A poor weather forecast means conditions at the Cot could be treacherous tomorrow and Hopwood will have to cope with anything the elements can throw at them when they take on third-placed Waterloo and Taunton in the morning session.
Victory for Hopwood would put the pressure on Royle, whose game against New Street takes place at 2.15pm.
Should both title hopefuls win, then it will all go down to Hopwood’s final game on Sunday week against Radcliffe.
Tomorrow’s other game in the ‘A’ division sees Springbank take on Radcliffe in a match the Bank boys need to win to ease their relegation fears.
‘B’ division action continues on Sunday when Tonge aim to keep their 100 per cent record intact against Dogwood.
Tomorrow —
‘A’ Division: 9.45am, Waterloo and Taunton v Hopwood; noon, Springbank v Radcliffe; 2.15pm, Royle v New Street.
Sunday —
‘B’ division: 9.45am, Nimble Nook v Failsworth; noon, Tonge v Dogwood; 2.15pm, Vixens v Prestwich.
