Carroll captures club first

ROYTON Road Runners were represented by 22 athletes in the popular Dewsbury 10k, the first race in the club’s championship series for 2009.
Stuart Carroll led the way in 37 minutes 21 seconds followed by Bernard Cassidy (37:55) and Dave Kershaw, whose time of 38:36 was two minutes quicker than last year.
Dave Emanuel (39:16) was next to cross the line, again recording a faster time than last year by one minute.
Bernard Goodwin (40.00), Rob Kellett(40:51) and Bryan Lawton (41:09) were closely followed by Dave Whittam and John Higgins, who both recorded 41:35.
Over-65 runner Dave Phillips’ time of 43:50 was good enough for third prize in his age category.
John Kane and James Holdaway clocked (44.18) and (45:00) respectively, and they were followed by George Meynell (48:55), Helen Knight (50:53) and Dave Smith (50:56),Vicky Bramley (51:25), Trevor Grundy (53:41) Tony Hunking (56:35), Neil Barker (53:19) Ray Shaw (71:45) and Brian Hurst (73:26).
