MAN-OF-THE-MOMENT John Pearson once again dominated proceedings in the Chadderton Mill AC match on the club lodge.

He used the tried and tested maggot feeder approach for an 8lb carp and five smaller samples, which added up to a 15lb bag.

Pearson, situated on peg 14, was opposite Chris Shaw, who had an all skimmer net on groundbait feeder and red maggot on the hook.

He caught fish in the 10 to 12 ounce bracket to weigh in 7lb 8oz.

There was a tie for third place, with organiser Lee Humphries (GTI Matchman) and Graham Mitchell (GTI Gilders) weighing identical catches of an ide, chub and carp for a level 5lb.

Humphries opted for the tip and pole, while Mitchell employed pole-fished maggot.

Dave Webb was fifth with 3lb 5oz.

Venue Guide

Rochdale Canal: Those anglers who are venturing out should try bread punch for the canal’s roach and skimmers.

Chadderton Mill: Maggot feeder, groundbait feeder and pole are all working together with red maggot on the hook. Best pegs are six to eight and 14 to 16.

Huddersfield Narrow Canal: Very quiet at the moment and it’s not surprising as temperatures are freezing in Saddleworth.
