DATES for the 2009 Oldham Evening Chronicle Bowling Handicap have been finalised.
Heats will be held on Fridays June 5 and 12, with the finals returning to last year’s venue, North Chadderton SC, on Saturday, July 11.
The first 64 entries at £5 will be accepted and an entry form will be printed in the Evening Chronicle in the spring.
The committee has decided that any player competing at a club at which he or she is a member will have two points deducted from his or her handicap.
This rule will be enforced even if the member does not represent that club in any of the local leagues.
ORGANISERS of the Inbev Winter Bowling League will be hoping for better weather this weekend.
Snow and ice on the Chadderton Cot artificial surface wiped out last weekend’s fixtures, so all matches in the league have been put back a week.
Royle could clinch the ‘A’ Division title tomorrow if they beat New Street and second-placed Hopwood lose to Waterloo and Taunton.
Tomorrow – ‘A’ Division: 9.45am, Waterloo and Taunton v Hopwood; noon, Springbank v Radcliffe; 2.15pm, Royle v New Street.
Sunday – ‘B’ Division: 9.45am, Nimble Nook v Failsworth; noon, Tonge v Dogwood; 2.15pm, Vixens v Prestwich.
THREE local organisations are £300 better off thanks to the Oldham Evening Chronicle Bowling Handicap.
Representatives from Dr Kershaw’s Hospice, the Oldham branch of the RSPCA and the Oldham Mountain Rescue Team received cheques from the competition’s charity fund.
