ROBERT FROGGATT was the hero for Oldham RUFC’s third team as his hat-trick of tries was instrumental in a 26-13 league victory at Rochdale thirds.

Froggatt make a storming run for his first touchdown as Oldham made an early breakthrough while Jordan Foster soon forced his way over for a second try. Mark Martin added both conversions and Oldham held a healthy 14–0 lead.

Rochdale hit back with a penalty and try to cut the deficit to 14-8 before Froggatt produced a carbon copy move for his second try as Oldham finished the opening period 19-8 ahead.

Rochdale scored a second try early in the second half as they pegged Oldham back to 19-13. But with seven minutes remaining, Oldham sealed victory when Froggatt completed his treble and Martin added an excellent conversion.

VETS completed a league double against Dukinfield following a 24–5 home victory.

Oldham took advantage of having a big, experienced pack as Neil Forsyth and John Selby scored tries and Paddy Lockett kicked a conversion as they built a 12-0 half-time lead.

Dukinfield scored a try early in the second period, but Oldham hit back with further tries from Dominic Hall and Forsyth which, along with a Selby conversion, sealed victory.

OLDHAM ‘A’ XV were beaten 21-12 at home by high-flying Old Bedians in a league fixture.

The damage was inflicted in the opening half when the visitors established a 21-5 advantage, Danny Simpson’s try providing Oldham’s only cheer.

The local side reorganised at the break and they were rewarded for their efforts when Phil Graham made a break to set up Jake Watson who scored between the posts, with Simpson kicking the two extra points.
