OLDHAM St Anne's survived a forwards barrage to move past a large, physical West Bank Bears side and into the quarter-finals of the BARLA National Cup.
Saints matched up well to their opponents, in a game that was reversed to an away fixture due to an unsuitable pitch, and only trailed 2-0 at the break through some terrific defence.
Shortly after half-time, Jordan White charged down a kick and went on to score to take his Saints side in to a lead which was subsequently wiped out by the Widnes side.
Trailing 8-6 with only three minutes remaining, Ben Marsden broke the line and offloaded to White who claimed his second try of the day.
"I am so proud of the team," said coach Bob Marsden, whose side are still chasing the North-West Counties League division one title. "They have done great."
