IAN COX enjoyed a resounding win in the Chadderton Mill AC winter league as his waggler and maggot approach netted him an ide every cast from favoured peg six where he weighed in a level 30lb.
That was more than three times the weight of the next angler as Paul Hill slipped a 7lb carp and half-a-dozen ide into his net for 9lb 2oz.
Third best Chris Shaw fished the pole and maggot at eleven metres to catch two small carp and some ide to finish with 8lb 10oz. Graham Mitchell (GTI Gilders) netted himself three carp on pole and maggot to weigh in 6lb 4oz.
With two matches to go it looks really tight at the top with John Pearson and Lee Humphries tying with 20 points, Chris Shaw on 21, Paul Hill 23, Darren Webb 24 and Graham Mitchell 26.
Last week’s Chadderton Mill AC open match on the club water saw Steve Hodges in pole position as his six-carp net, the biggest weighing in at 10lb for an 18lb total that fell for pole fished maggot fished on the deck at nine metres.
Lee Humphries (GTI matchman) took second with his 12 skimmers tipping the scales to 7lb 12oz, while Paul Hill continued his good run with 6lb 4oz that was made up of four small carp.
PLEASURE fishing Chadderton mill lodge on Saturday, Graham Mitchell and son Andrew had a cracking day with waggler and maggot netting them a rake of ide.
But things didn’t run smoothly, especially for Andrew as while positioning his seatbox he decided to perform a triple somersault straight into the water!
Dad was well impressed and gave the score as a straight nine - after he had picked himself up off the floor with tears running down his face.
To cap a great day, Andrew also decided that his pole didn’t have enough sections and proceeded to break his number five section in two.
Yes, definitely a day to forget for Andrew and one to never forget for Graham!
