STONE Dominoes stand between Oldham Town and a place in the semi-finals of the Vodkat North West Counties League’s First Division Trophy.
The two teams meet at the Whitebank Stadium, where Town will also have an eye on revenge after they lost 4-3 in extra time to tomorrow’s opponents in the League Challenge Cup four weeks ago.
Town manager Tony Mills will be hoping his side can bounce back after they lost their 22-month unbeaten home league record to Wigan Robin Park last Saturday.
Mills (pictured) is unlikely to be at the game after undergoing a knee-replacement operation and will leave trusty lieutenants Ged McGranahan and Francis Egan in charge.
Ogden still at the helm
CHADDERTON are likely to continue with a stand-in manager for tomorrow’s home game against Holker Old Boys in division one of Vodkat NWCL.
No 2 Derk Ogden has been at the helm for the last two matches in the absence of Paul Buckley through family reasons.
Chadderton recovered from a 3-1 league defeat at Darwen last Saturday with a splendid 2-1 home win against Bootle in the First Division Trophy on Monday night.
It was the Broadway club’s first win in eight competitive matches, and Ogden said: “We were rusty against Darwen because we haven’t played a lot lately, but we looked a completely different team two days later.
“Although we haven’t been playing badly, we have struggled to score goals but we managed to put that right against Bootle.”
Chadderton are away to Cheadle Town tomorrow in the reserve division.
Willcock aiming high
MOSSLEY are at home to Clitheroe tomorrow in UniBond League, division one north with manager Chris Willcock believing the Lilywhites can still mount a promotion charge.
Willcock is hoping Tuesday’s excellent victory against division one south leaders Retford United in the President’s Cup, will provide the catalyst for his side to make a move.
He said: “We recorded six straight victories earlier in the season and we need to repeat that.
“It is possible when you look at the fixtures coming up, and such a run would push us back up the table.”
Willcock, whose side was badly depleted in midweek, will have Alex Mortimer, Danny Self and Matty Kay available, while new-boy Clive Moyo-Modise, a South African under-23 international, could make his debut if his work permit arrives in time.
