WATERLOO & Taunton showed no mercy in beating Lees & Springhead 10-1 and relegating them back to Division B after a year in the top flight of the Inbev Winter Bowls League at Chadderton CBC.
Hopwood beat Radcliffe 8-3, helping them to finish third from the bottom.
Although New Street and Springbank each won four out of the eight games, New Street took the aggregate by 28 points to win the match 7-4. This enabled New Street to take fourth place in the division and ensured that Springbank will have to play off against Nimble Nook for a place in Division A next year.
In the individual merit, R Goodman (Hopwood) and I Turrell (Radcliffe) both finished with 13 wins but Turrell had a superior average.
In Division B, second and third, Nimble Nook and North Chadderton, played each other and, although Nook took five of the eight games, North won the aggregate to take the match 6–5.
Failsworth had a good 7-4 win over fourth-placed Prestwich, while The Vixens lost to Dogwood 9-2 despite scoring a reasonable aggregate of 139.
S Mellor (Nimble Nook) won the individual merit with 16 wins, beating D Mountford (North Chadd) by one.
