OLDHAM RU 2nds are on a terrible run of form which has seen them slip from fourth to seventh in the table and Burnage 3rd were the latest team to inflict defeat on the local side, 13-12.

Danny Simpson converted his own try to put Oldham 7-0 in front before Burnage reduced the deficit with a penalty.

Chris Booth scored in the corner after good work from Chris Jones, Chris Lamb and Phil Graham, the latter missing the conversion, leaving Oldham ahead at 12–3.

However, Burnage got on top in the second half and, aided by some contentious penalty calls, they first cut the deficit with a converted try before edging ahead in the closing stages.

Oldham 3rds continue to show the second team how it is done as they recorded their fourth win in succession, overcoming Glossop 21-5.

Mark Martin converted his own try early on and Matty Holt also touched down, with Martin converting again before the break to give Oldham a 14-0 lead.

Glossop went close in the early stages of the second half, but Cain Lowther broke clear from almost the halfway line to score and Martin again converted to put Oldham in command before Glossop picked up a consolation try.

Oldham Vets had a tricky match as they travelled to face Sedgley Park, who sat directly above them in the table.

The game was lively and the pace certainly took its toll on the Vets who lost both Grahame Trickey and Mike Royston to injury before the break.

However, Oldham dominated the opening exchanges and, following several phases of play, a gap appeared in Sedgley’s defence for Pete Mulder to touch down.

Nick McDowell added a retaken conversion - the referee deeming that Sedgley were ‘too vocal’ on the original kick.

Sedgley scored against the run of play to level matters before the break and a stalemate ensued until, with five minutes to go, Mark Hodge touched down to give Oldham victory.
