CHADDERTON angler Steve Clegg (Saints) took first place in the Hampton Springs silver-fish open match.

TODMORDEN AS are never a club to rest on their laurels and have always had a pro-active stocking policy for their waters. The club have ide and tench on order and these should be delivered before the end of March.

The final treatment of weeds at Cliviger fish ponds will take place in the next few weeks. This should ensure that the invasive water lilies, common pond weed and Canadian pond weed will be gone for good. The fish will then be introduced at Cliviger, Portsmouth reservoir and New Mill Dam.

CENTURIAN AC have a cracking list of venues planned for this year and as usual there is a real variety in the types of waters from commercials to rivers and natural lakes.
All of the matches are Saturdays:

April 11 Lymm Dam, April 25 Blundells (Ash pool), May 9 Brookside Fisheries (Willow , May 23 Partridge Lakes (Willow , June 6 High Heyes Farm (The Cattery), June 20 Border Fisheries (Island), July 4 Bradshaw’s number 6, August 1 Macy’s (Bury) , August 15 Fleets dam, August 29 Blundells (West canal), September 12 Winsford Flash, September 26 Bradshaws number 4, October 10 Partridge lakes (Ribbon lake). Venue Guide

Rochdale Canal – Not many fishing but those venturing out are catching well. One angler had double figures on the Slattocks length. Bread punch is the bait for skimmers, bream and roach.

Chadderton Mill – Still the pole or waggler with red maggot on the hook for silver fish and small carp.

Huddersfield Narrow Canal – The Saddleworth and District lengths are fishing well, especially in the last few hours of daylight. Carp is falling for red maggot while bread flake has been tempting some good-sized chub.
