OLDHAM RUFC’S second team ended a run of five successive league defeats in division fourth east with a 25-10 victory at Didsbury Toc H fourths.
The victory was secured after an impressive second-half display after the Manor Park side had squandered a 10-0 advantage in the opening period.
Chris Lamb’s try, together with a conversion and penalty from Daniel Simpson, put Oldham in a strong position until Toc H hit back to draw level by the break.
Phil Graham regained the lead with a penalty and Oldham extended their lead through an Alan Pierre try.
The scoring was completed with a try by Jake Watson and which was converted by Simpson.
EXTRA ‘A’ were beaten 33-7 at home by Bury’s second team.
Oldham conceded two early tries, but hit back through a try and conversion by Mark Martin to make a fist of the game.
The local side were unable to build on their strong finish to the opening period and they fell away after the restart conceding further tries.
VETS lost 8-5 at Pendle seconds after being forced to field a makeshift team.
In a very close game played on a muddle, sloping pitch, Oldham started well against a more youthful Pendle team taking the lead through a Steve Connolly try.
Pendle cut the deficit with a penalty before half time and snatched victory with a late try.
