MOSSLEY play Ossett Albion for the second time in little over 72 hours tonight in division one north of the UniBond League.
The Lilywhites defeated play-off team Albion 5-3 at Seel Park on Saturday to reinforce their own hopes of a top-five finish.
Mossley are in Yorkshire tonight and manager Chris Willcock believes if they can collect seven points from this week’s three league fixtures they will find themselves in the promotion mix.
They are currently in 11th place and eight points adrift of fifth spot with league games away to Ossett Albion tonight and Skelmersdale on Thursday and a home game against Chorley on Saturday.
Willcock’s decision to sign two new strikers - Danny Toronczak and Nathan Neequaye - could not have proved more timely as top scorer Mike Fish could be out for four weeks with damaged ankle ligaments while Danny Egan still has two matches of a four-game ban to serve.
Front-man Danny Dignan is only just back from an injury lay-off.
Toronczak, who scored 143 goals in 235 games for Ossett Albion, joins the Lilywhites for a second spell having most recently played for Salford City.
Neequaye, who has played previously for Curzon Ashton, has been recruited from Mid-Cheshire League club Gamesley.
Willcock was so stretched for players he could name only four of his five permitted substitutes on Saturday, though tonight he will have Darryl Weston, Craig Buckley and Ben Richardson back in his squad.
Midfield player Danny Self has quit Mossley because he is unhappy with the squad-rotation system Willcock employs.
OLDHAM TOWN manager Tony Mills will also be rotating his squad for tonight’s home game against Leek CSOB in the first division of the Vodkat North West Counties League.
Mills intends to rest a number of players, including central defender Damian Schofield who has a niggling knee injury, in readiness for Saturday’s semi-final in the First Division Trophy at Padiham.
Striker Dave Brooke, who is on loan from Mossley, is likely to be given his first appearance and there will also be a recall for Leon Melia and a number of other squad players.
Midfield player Steve Robinson, signed from Cheadle Town, is also likely to get his first action.
With 16 league games to play before the end of April as well as cup ties, Mills is aware that he needs to keep players fresh.
CHADDERTON reserves, who had the bare minimum of 11 players, lost 4-0 at AFC Liverpool.
