GRAHAM MITCHELL (GTI Gilders) has had a lean time of late in the Chadderton Mill AC matches but this week he finished top with his 30lb 6oz net made up of carp, chub, ide and roach that fell to the pole and maggot fished towards the tins.
That wasn’t too far in front of organiser Lee Humphries (GTI Matchman) as his maggot hookbait was alternated between the pole and waggler catching him five carp, the biggest 4lb, and loads of silver fish for a 28lb 8oz weight.
John Lees (Gilders) continued his good run with a third-best 27lb 8oz that was made up of seven carp and some ide taken on maggot coupled with a maggot feeder.
Alan Shaw (Tight lines Shaw) had five carp on the tip and some ide on the waggler for a fourth placed 16lb 10oz.
ROUND one of the Cairo AC winter league fished on Denshaw Vale gave Mick Jewitt (Tight lines Shaw) a win with his pole, tip and bronze maggot approach netting him 6lb 7oz of skimmers and bream.
Malc Taylor (Gilders fished bronze maggot on the pole for his second- placed 4lb 5oz of bream and skimmers. Third place went to Mick McDonald (Gilders) with the pole and bronze maggot accounting for his 4lb 1oz of skimmers, while Darren Jones (Tight lines Shaw) was next with 3lb 12oz of skimmers.
AS usual, Eight Bells AC have a cracking and comprehensive match list for this year. All of the matches are Sundays and are as follows:
April 5 at Whitmore Fisheries (East Lake) Bob Roberts memorial; May 10 Orcheton House (John Humphreys trophy); May 24 Fields Farm Fisheries (Adge Ashcroft trophy); June 7 Border Fisheries (Les Standish memorial trophy and Steve Jones trophy); July 12 Fields Farm Fisheries (John Anderton memorial trophy); July 26 Bradshaws number two lodge (Ryan Leonard trophy); August 9 High Heyes lake three (Arthur Fitton trophy); August 16 Border Fisheries (Kevin Parnell trophy); September 20 Goose Green Farm (Mintex Don trophy); October 11 Bradshaws number four lodge (John Boodle trophy and fur and feather).
The club has a strict policy of barbless hooks only and all nets must be dipped prior to going to your peg.

TODMORDEN AS have just implemented a rule change.
In the past pleasure anglers couldn’t fish a venue on the day of a match. This has changed and anglers can fish on the venue but must vacate their peg by 3pm.
Venue Guide
Rochdale Canal – Higher temperatures have seen more anglers on the bank but fishing still a bit hard. Bread punch for skimmers and roach.
Chadderton Mill – Waggler, pole and maggots are tempting some big nets of fish with carp and silver fish to 30lb.
