MOSSLEY are at Trafford tonight as they seek to win through to their second cup final of the campaign.

Already assured of a final appearance in the Manchester Premier Cup, the Lilywhites aim to make it a double in the UniBond League’s President’s Cup.

Manager Chris Willcock admits three defeats in the space of five days in the league is hardly the best preparation.

Indeed, tonight completes a daunting spell of six games in 13 days which kicked off with a win against New Mills which booked their place in their first final.

“While we have not have the results in the last week, our performances have been good and it has been a case of the breaks not going our way in games,” explained Willcock.

The Mossley manager admitted his side lacked a spark in Saturday’s 1-0 home league defeat by Chorley but he believes there is no better way to regroup than to prepare for a cup semi-final.

Mossley will be without recent signings Danny Toronczak and Matty Kay who are cup-tied, but striker Danny Dignan is likely to be back after an ankle injury and central defender Graham Kay returns following a lengthy injury lay-off.

Striker Danny Egan returned on Saturday after completing a four-match ban so Willcock will be able to freshen up his team.

OLDHAM TOWN bid to keep alive their promotion hopes in the first division of the Vodkat North West Counties League tonight when they play hosts to Darwen.

Manager Tony Mills is looking for an improved display following Saturday’s defeat at Padiham in the semi-finals of the First Division Trophy.

“We went out with a whimper and I made it clear to the players after the game that is was not acceptable and I won’t tolerate another performance like that,” he said.

Mills is planning changes with striker Gareth Chew and midfield man Lee Neville, both unavailable on Saturday, in line for recalls.

CHADDERTON lost 2-1 at Daisy Hill in the reserve division, Danny Faye scoring their consolation goal.
