Mossley lost 2-1 at Trafford last night as they failed in their bid to reach the final of the UniBond League's President's Cup.
It was a disappointing display from Mossley, who slumped to a fourth successive defeat at the end of a punishing schedule of six games in 13 days.
Mossley fell behind to a 16th minute penalty from Andy Lundy following a foul by Nick Boothby.
But it took the Lilywhites until the 81st minute to equalise, through
Lee Blackshaw, and almost straight from the restart, Mossley were caught cold by a ball over their defence as Scott Barlow burst clear to slot home his 33rd goal of the season.
OLDHAM Town’s promotion hopes in division one of the Vodkat North-West Counties League suffered a body blow when they went down 1-0 at home to Darwen last night.
Tony Mills’ side hit the post three times in the first half and twice in the second against opponents who scored with their only attack of the game just after the interval.
