Town target repeat win

IT’S a case of Oldham Town hoping lightning strikes twice and Mossley doing their best to avoid it as both have important league fixtures tonight.

High-flying Town are away to lowly Leek CSOB in the first division of the Vodkat North West Counties League.

The match is exactly a fortnight after the Staffordshire side lost 5-1 at the Whitebank Stadium.

Town have a great incentive as a victory will lift them from sixth to fifth place.

And with games in hand on four of the five teams above them, Town remain well placed to challenge for a top-two finish.

“We would need to put together a good run to achieve that and we cannot afford many slip-ups,” explained manager Tony Mills.

Stuart McGill, Leon Melia and Gareth Chew are all doubts for Town whose playing resources will again be stretched.

Mossley play hosts to Trafford in UniBond League division one north seven days after they lost 2–1 away to the same opponents in the semi-finals of the President’s Cup.

The Lilywhites will be looking to avenge that defeat and will go into the game lifted by Saturday’s goalless draw at Lancaster which ended a four-match losing run.

CHADDERTON goalkeeper Lee Swanson has a remarkable penalty-saving record at Ashton Town where the Broadway club recorded their 150th away win since joining the league.

Swanson has saved spot-kicks on his last four visits to Town, the most recent in Saturday’s 2-1 win.

Chadderton reserves lost 5-0 at home to Bootle
