OLDHAM ASC made a flying start in their first Central Lancashire Jubilee Junior League swimming meeting of the season against Royton, Ashton Central and Tyldesley at Royton Pool.

Oldham’s 10 to 13 year-old swimmers pipped Tyldesley by one point (114-113) to win the meet with Royton on 108 and Ashton Central on 78.

Amy Cunningham won the 10-years 25 yards breaststroke and butterfly events, while debutant Dylan Stockton won the boys 25 yards freestyle and Henry Coverley took the 25 yards backstroke and was second in the 25 yards butterfly.

In the 11 years age group, Olivia Askew had a hat-trick of wins in the 50 freestyle, butterfly and backstroke events, with team-mate Kiandra Basnett coming second in the breaststroke.

For the boys, there were victories for Kyle Clegg in the 50 butterfly, Michael Entwistle in the freestyle and Sammy Ireland in the backstroke.

Caitlin Wareing won the 12 years 50 backstroke and was second in the butterfly, while Bethany Peak was second in the 50 freestyle.

Rhiannon Prestage came out on top in the 13 years 50 freestyle and backstroke and Jessica Fullalove won the 50 breaststroke.

The boys 11 years and under team of Dylan Stockton, Sammy Ireland Kyle Clegg and Michael Entwistle won the freestyle relay, while Henry Coverley replaced Stockton in the medley relay team which went on to make it a double victory.

The girls team of Georgia Cain, Kiandra Basnett, Olivia Askew and Natasha Sabel were runners up in both the medley and freestyle relays.

The girls 13 years and under relay team of Rebecca Lewis, Bethany Fox, Jessica Fullalove and Rhiannon Prestage won the freestyle relay and were second in the medley.

In the final event, the Cannon Relay, comprising a swimmer from each age group, the girls team of Amy Cunningham, Olivia Askew, Caitlin Wareing and Rhiannon Prestage took top spot.
