Massey treble inspires Chadds

CHADDERTONIANS are up to fourth place in the premier division of the Lancashire Amateur League after a 6-2 win over over lowly Bolton Lads Club.

But Chadds had to do it the hard way, Rick Massey scoring twice before the break to cancel out two goals from Lads Club.

It was a different story in the second half as Massey, who went on to complete his hat-trick, Steve Barrow (two) and Ryan Baldwin, put Chadds in command.

The reserve side threw away a three-goal lead as they were held to a 3-3 draw at home to Broughton Amateurs in division one.

Darren Gully, Adam Flint and Damien Green scored for Chadds.

Oldham Hulmeians enjoyed a 4-0 win over mid-table rivals Bury GSOB reserves in division two.

Simon Toms headed home Clint Tate’s corner kick to give Hulmeians the advantage at the interval and Hulmeians confirmed their superiority in the final quarter.

Chris Hadfield supplied substitute Gareth Wager for another headed goal, before Steve Shalmani’s solo effort produced the third. Tate then put the icing on the cake when he slotted home just before the final whistle.

Failsworth Dynamos reserves were beaten 8-3 at Hesketh Casuals reserves in division three and Chadds ‘A’, despite goals from Damian Hardman and Ashem Arrianne (two) lost 4-3 at home to Horwich RMI reserves in division four.

Chadds ‘B’ remain on course for promotion from division seven after a 3-1 win at Horwich RMI ‘A’.

Wayne Butterworth, Jack O’Dea and Rob Fielding scored for Chadds, who remain in second place.

Meanwhile, Hulmeians ‘A’ took the honours in the club derby at Tate Street, defeating the ‘B’ team 2-1.

Jonathan Hadfield and John Hadfield scored for the third team, while Will Preston replied for the fourths.
